well one things for sure... Mr. Tyler put fire in our British bellies!!!! - no denying that!!!

a good (and well observed) point

This Forum is buzzing with Young Brit film-makers, which will soon help to create a healthy film-making industry in the UK!!!

Hollywood will always remain the power player (where the money is), but the talent & the craft is being grown elsewhere! (some of which, in the UK)

Cheers Mr.Tyler for bringing this up... you've shown some of us how passionate we are about film!

Arn't we a patriotic little bunch!

I must say, I've just shat my pants with
glee- because I'm part of such an elite
    group of talented individuals.

Happy Day, and God save the Queen!

I'm off now, to make a cuppa and watch
my limited edition video of Windsor castle
burning down- while wearing my original
    Arthur Skargill "STRIKE" T-shirt, with
the FullMonty sound track CD on at full
blast in the immediate background. eek

Why? Are you afraid that my pointless topic will become the main focus of this board for the next few days? If it does, it says quite a bit about the board...

I just thought it was strange that practically every goddamn aspiring filmmaker posting here is British and I wanted to know why. Now I have an understanding (the actual website is British).

And if you don't like it, FUCK YOU.

This is the only film messageboard that I know of dominated by British. Can't believe you're complaining! AND it is listed in most internet directories under "filmmaking, UK"

Look man, I'm not complaining! Just a simple observation. I think its cool that so many young folks in Britain are into film. The British film industry needs new blood.

actually im from the netherlands, but i m happy to hear about a new rush in uk s filmmaking.
remember all the old movies made by david lean, or kubrick. its time for new stuff leading on a serious way of thinking about film.
think about guy ritchie, he might be a little arrogant in his filmmaking, but at least his doing something. i think many important vibes are coming from the crazy island, accelerator, you heard about that one? its an irish one, but they talk english, or whatever.
    ok dokee.

Please..there are so many more filmmakers in Britain apart from Guy Ritchie. His films have done well in terms of box office but there are many superior craftsman out there.
I have just returned from the States where there ignorance is unbelievable. They think we are all so proud of Guy Ritchie. While I respect what he has done for raising the profile of British filmmaking, his own films, under closer critical analysis, are infact pieces of shit.
Indeed, America (and I include Canada in this, because I dont care what they say, its exactly the same thing), make the shittist films on the planet. Sure, their argument will be "oh but they make the most money"...well, you can keep 'em. The fact is Europeans have always lead the way in filmmaking and US-Canadians adopt these innovations and commercialise them. Kubrick? Why do you think he moved to Britain in the first place?

And one last thing to all Americans/Canadians: You make films in our language, start to acknowledge this fact and show some respect.
